Kei has been in the restaurant business for over 40 years and has enjoyed creating dishes and innovative sushi. Kei was born in Osaka, Japan and moved to Los Angeles in his early 20s. As a young man, he worked in restaurants learning the art of Japanese cuisine. In 1968, he opened his first restaurant, Kinokawa, in Gardena, CA. In 1977, he relocated Kinokawa to Long Beach where he consistently brought sushi and Japanese cuisine to the locals for over 26 years. When Kei is not behind the sushi counter, you can find him on the golf course or tending to his garden.
